The following is a set of step-by-step procedures for using in Volleyball Stat. These procedures are written for Android v4.0 and iPad v3.6.2

Set up a match from nothing

AndroidiPad
  1. Go to the "record" tab by tapping on "record" in the black bar across the top of the screen
  2. Enter Players: repeat for each player
    1. Tap on "Bench"
    2. Enter personal information. The only required information is "Jersey Number".
    3. Tap on Create Player
  3. Set name of team for which you are recording stats
    1. Tap on "Green Team"
    2. Change the name (and color, if desired)
    3. Tap on "Commit"
  4. Set name of the opposition team
    1. Tap on "Red Team"
    2. Change the name (and color, if desired)
    3. Tap on "Commit"
  5. Set starting lineup of players
    For each player in the starting lineup
    1. Tap on the player
    2. Tap on their starting position
  6. Set the team that is serving first.
    If needed, tap on the "Swap serve" button (in the bottom left of the screen).
  1. Go to the "Game Play" tab by tapping on "Game Play" in the white bar across the bottom of the screen
  2. Enter Players: repeat for each player
    1. Double Tap on "Bench"
    2. Enter personal information. The only required information is "Jersey Number".
    3. Tap on Save Changes
  3. Set name of team for which you are recording stats
    1. Tap on "Us" (the name in green to the left of center just below "bench")
    2. Change the name (and color, if desired)
    3. Tap on "Change Team Info"
  4. Set name of the opposition team
    1. Tap on "Them"
    2. Change the name (and color, if desired)
    3. Tap on "Change Team Info"
  5. Set starting lineup of players
    For each player in the starting lineup
    1. Tap on the player
    2. Tap on their starting position
  6. If needed, change the team that is serving first.
    1. Tap on the 3 dots button near the bottom of the screen
    2. tap on "Swap serve" in the popup window.

Set up a match using the roster from a previous match

AndroidiPad
  1. Go to the "File" tab
  2. Tap on "Current Data Actions"
    Tap on "clear all" in the resulting popup
  3. Tap on the match that has the roster most like the one you want to use. (Each match stores a copy of the roster used in that match.)
  4. Select "Load only roster" in the resulting popup
  5. Go to the "record" tab
  6. Continue from step 3 of the step-by-step for starting a match from nothing.
  1. Go to the "File" tab
  2. Tap on "Clear Everything" under "Actions on Current Data"
  3. Under Actions on Existing files, tap on the match that has the roster most like the one you want to use. (Each match stores a copy of the roster used in that match.)
  4. Select "Load only roster" in the resulting popup
  5. Go to the "Game Play" tab
  6. Continue from step 3 of the step-by-step for starting a match from nothing.

Set up a match using the same roster as the last match you recorded

  1. Go to the "File" tab
  2. Tap on "Current Data Actions"
    Tap on "clear all, except roster" in the resulting popup
  3. Go to the "record" tab
  4. Continue from step 3 of the step-by-step for starting a match from nothing.

  2. Tap on "clear stats, retain roster" under "Actions on Current Data"
  3. Go to the "Game Play" tab
  4. Continue from step 3 of the step-by-step for starting a match from nothing.

Set up a match using and explicitly saved roster

  1. Go to the "File" tab
  2. Tap on "Current Data Actions"
    Tap on "clear all" in the resulting popup
  3. Tap on "roster" (lower left).
  4. Tap on the roster in which you are interested
    Tap on "Load only roster" in the resulting popup
  5. Go to the "record" tab by tapping on "record" in the black bar across the top of the screen
  6. Continue from step 3 of the step-by-step for starting a match from nothing.
This feature is not yet available on iPad.

End a match

AndroidiPad
  1. Go to the "record" tab
  2. Tap on "End Match" (in the bottom left). This will automatically save the match data to a file
  3. Go the "report" tab and look over the data
or
  1. Go to the "record" tab
  2. Tap on "End Set" (in the lower left) then answer "yes" and "no" to the questions
  3. Go to the "File" tab
  4. Tap on "Current Data Actions"
    Select "Save" in the resulting popup
  5. Go the "report" tab and look over the data
  1. Go to the "Game Play" tab
  2. Tap on the 3 dots button near the bottom of the screen
  3. Tap on "End Match" in the popup window. This will automatically save the match data to a file
  4. Go the "reports" tab and look over the data
or
  1. Go to the "Game Play" tab
  2. Tap on the 3 dots button near the bottom of the screen
  3. Tap on "New Set" then answer "yes" and "no" to the questions
  4. Go to the "File" tab
  5. Tap on "Save Data to File" under "Actions on Current Data"
  6. Go the "report" tab and look over the data

Review an entire season of data for a team

AndroidiPad
  1. Go to the "File" tab
  2. Tap on "Current Data Actions"
    Tap on "clear all" in the resulting popup
  3. Tap on "Date" in the black bar above the list of stored matches. This will sort the matches by date.
  4. (Optional) Tap on "Filter" and set the name of the team to be filtered for.
  5. Tap on the "+" on the right side of the first match of the season. The "+" will change to 1, and the row will change to yellow.
  6. For each of the remaining matches, tap on the '+'.
  7. Tap in any yellow row
    Select "Load then append"
  8. Go the "report" tab
  9. Tap on "Content" (upper right)
    Select "Summary -- Team" in the resulting list
  1. Go to the "File" tab
  2. Tap on "Clear Everything" under "Actions on Current Data"
  3. Tap on the sot button then select any option that starts with "Date" and ends with "down"
  4. (Optional) Tap on "Filter Files" and set the name of the team to be filtered for.
  5. Tap on the "+" on the right side of the first match of the season. The "+" will change to 1, and the row will change to yellow.
  6. For each of the remaining matches, tap on the '+'.
  7. Tap on "Act on Selections" in the black bar at the bottom of the list
  8. Select "Load and Append all" in the popup
  9. Go the "report" tab
  10. Tap on "Content" (upper right)
    Select "Team Summary" in the resulting list

Export Data to MaxPreps

  1. Execute the "Review and entire season of data for a team" process
  2. Go to the report tab.
  3. Select the "Summary-Team" content.
  4. Select the "Max Preps" format.
  5. Select the "maxpreps" share.
  6. Either email the table to yourself or put it onto cloud storage (e.g., dropbox).
  7. Get the table into a file on a regular computer.
  8. Log into maxpreps.com and upload the file.
  1. Execute the "Review and entire season of data for a team" process
  2. Go to the report tab.
  3. Select the "Summary-Team" content.
  4. Select the "MaxPreps" format.
  5. Select either "Send data as Max Preps attachment" or "Max Preps (summary table only)"
  6. Execute steps as necessary to complete the data export from the app.
  7. Get the table into a file on a regular computer.
  8. Log into maxpreps.com and upload the file.

Importing Data

Import from an email attachment

  1. If Volleyball stat is running, make sure any data is saved. Import from email will erase data in memory
  2. Open the standard android email reader and select the message with the attachment to be imported
  3. Show the attachment
  4. Tap on "Preview". (You may be presented with a set of choices for viewing the data. Select "Volleyball Stat!".)
  5. This will import the data into Volleyball Stat and, if needed, start the app.
  1. If Volleyball stat is running, make sure any data is saved. Import from email will erase data in memory
  2. Open the standard email reader and select the message with the attachment to be imported
  3. Tap on the attachment
  4. Select "Open in Volleyball Stat!".)
  5. If asked, answer "yes" to a question about proceeding
  6. This will import the data into Volleyball Stat and, if needed, start the app.

Import from cloud storage

  1. If Volleyball stat is running, make sure any data is saved. Import from the cloud will erase data in memory
  2. Open the cloud storage app
  3. Find the file you want to import and tap on it.
  4. Depending on your cloud storage app, there may be additional steps.
  5. This will import the data into Volleyball Stat and, if needed, start the app.
  1. If Volleyball stat is running, make sure any data is saved. Import from the cloud will erase data in memory
  2. Open the cloud storage app
  3. Find the file you want to import and tap on it.
  4. Depending on your cloud storage app, there may be additional steps. In the dropbox app (v3.7) the steps are:
    1. Tap on the export icon at the top of the screen (this is a rectangle with an arrow point up)
    2. Tap on "open in"
    3. Tap on "open in Volleyball Stat!"
  5. This will import the data into Volleyball Stat and, if needed, start the app.

Import from a URL

AndroidiPad
  1. If possible, copy the URL into the clipboard.
  2. Open Volleyball Stat and go to the File tab.
  3. Make sure any data is saved. Import of data will erase data in memory
  4. Tap on "From URL" in the lower right.
  5. A popup will appear. If you got the URL into the clipboard, that URL will be in the grey field in the center of the popup. Otherwise, enter the URL in the grey field.
  6. Tap on "Import"
  7. Tap anywhere outside of the popup to cancel the import
  8. Data and roster imports are not saved. Configuration imports are automatically saved.
This feature is not yet available on iPad.

Direct Import from Dropbox

AndroidiPad
  1. Open Volleyball Stat and go to the File tab.
  2. Make sure any data is saved. Import of data will erase data in memory
  3. Tap on the dropbox icon in the lower right.
  4. You may be asked to log into Dropbox. Do so
  5. You may be asked from permission, generally tapping on "allow" is correct
  6. A popup window will appear with a list of every file in Apps/VolleyballStat. Tap on the file you wish to import.
  7. Data and roster imports are not saved. Configuration imports are automatically saved.
  8. Tap anywhere outside of the popup to cancel the import
